The organizers of FinnFest 2011 wish to thank all attendees, performers, lecturers, vendors and volunteers for attending our festival and conference! YOU made it a SUCCESSFUL HAPPENING! Let's keep in touch, hymyillään kun tavataan!
We came together to the 28th annual FinnFest to highlight contemporary Finland and celebrate the unique Finnish-American heritage. FinnFest 2011 brought together people with a connection to Finland and all those interested in Newsweek magazine's #1 ranked "Best Country to Live In".
The Mayor of the City of San Diego signed a proclamation declaring August 2011 to be the Month of Finland in San Diego. Throughout August, several exhibitions and events are taking place across San Diego showcasing the many sides of Finland. FinnFest 2011 took place during August 10 - 14 and featured the traditionally multi-faceted schedule of programs and events. After Opening Festivities on August 10, FinnFest 2011 offered four days of events spanning the spectrum of entertainment, cultural, educational, sport, family-focused and business programs. Thousands of North American, local and international visitors attended the events and browsed the Tori Marketplace brimming with Finnish products.
