Finnish Cuisine & Nutrition
The theme of wellbeing will cover both internal and external wellbeing with an extensive combination of Finnish foods and beverages, health and exercise. One of the most diverse topics under the wellbeing theme is the Finnish food culture. The “Functional food” theme will introduce Finnish cuisine to both professionals of the cooking industry and to the guests of FinnFest 2011. Functional Food will present Finland as the country of culinary innovations, natural superfoods, high health and pristine nature.
The program will include lectures by high profile professionals and cooking demonstrations by renowned Finnish chefs. The objective is to respect the traditions of the Finnish cooking, introduce Finland’s clean and fresh ingredients and showcase modern Finnish culinary tastes.
Lectures and workshops will present current trends in Finnish cuisine, such as natural superfoods and organic produce, and introduce some unique characteristics and innovations of the Finnish food culture such as Finland’s extensive selection of probiotic and lactose-free products. The Functional Food program will focus on diets conducive to good health, such as the widely recognized benefits of a gluten free diet.
